Beyond 50 Radio Interview
Happy New Year! I want to let you know about a radio interview I did a couple of weeks ago, which is now available online. The program is called “Beyond 50 Radio” and is based in Portland, Oregon. On the call was Daniel Davis, the show’s host, as well as Devin Decuna, the co-host and college intern.
We discussed some of the common characteristics and challenges of Generation Y, such as the myriad choices we face, the “quarterlife crisis,” and the tough job market. I also offered stories and tips for 20somethings and their Baby Boomer parents. My hope is that you hear something useful for yourself or someone you know. Please feel free to share your own thoughts too.

Fantastic Ann! This interview was extremely well done and uplifting to listen to. The way you speak (calm, confidently and compassionately) really reflects all the clarity you've gained in your own process of self-discovery. I particularly enjoyed your emphasis on not viewing twentysomething challenges as something negative, and also on defining what success means to you- not to society.
Congratulations on the interview, Ann! Your voice was clear, gentle, yet powerful. Have you received any responses to it yet?
Thanks for your sweet comment, Katherine. So much of what we experience in any situation is determined by how we “frame” it – i.e., what we tell ourselves and believe to be true. This is why I like to emphasize the two points you mention, in light of all the ups and downs in our 20s. xo
Thanks for your feedback on my voice, Clarice – especially since I’m new to radio! Yes, I’ve received some great responses to the interview and appreciate every comment.

Wow!!!! This radio interview is amazing. I highly recommend it to one and all. In fact, I'm going to put it on my facebook page right now. I love it. Ann, you were so eloquent, thoughtful and inspiring. You gave such thoughtful, appropriate responses to all of the questions. You even did a great job tackling a few challenging questions that the interviewer posed about if 20 something's needed to take more responsibility. Way to speak up for your generation! I was so deeply impressed. You deserve your own show, that is for sure! Keep up the great work.
Thanks so much, Elise. I really appreciate your feedback.
Questions about 20somethings being entitled, etc. are always tough for me. On the one hand, I don’t want to dismiss people who hold this view who are voicing genuine frustrations. On the other hand, I’ve known more hardworking, creative, and service-oriented 20somethings than I can count! Sometimes I wonder if part of the stereotype has to do with generational misunderstandings, as well as unclear expectations/consequences (for example, in the workplace or family structure). The debate continues…

Absolutely beautiful, Ann. Your voice, passion, and ability to connect is amazing. It brings me right back to our meeting at the coffee shop. Thank you for your compassion and desire to truly give the best of you to this world. You light us up, Ann. Thank you on a personal note for being one of my trusted confidants and honoring my story in the way you have while using it to support others. I wish every twenty-something could connect with you. Love and Gratitude to you, Ann!
Great to hear from you Lacy! Thanks so much for your comment – sending much love your way.
